ScannerVision Modules

ScannerVision modules extend the already comprehensive capabilities of ScannerVision to fulfill just about any document capture and processing requirement possible!  Modules are loaded into the server, meaning that all connected clients receive the benefits and extra functionality, automatically. 

Many versions of ScannerVision Server can be upgraded with the following modules:

ScannerVision Recognition Modules

SCANNERVISION has options for multiple modules to assist in the automatic recognition and processing of various data types. The Intelligent Character Recognition (ScannerVision ICR) module can be used to recognize hand-written text, including numerals and some signs and punctuation.  This module is of great value when processing documents such as forms.

The Optical Mark Recognition (ScannerVision OMR) module is designed to automatically recognize optical marks, such as checkmarks, on a variety of paper documents.

Typical application areas are:

  • Reporting or ordering sheets

Documents to be processed are usually form-like and filled by respondents, normally by hand. 

And finally the Zonal Optical Character Recognition (ScannerVision Zonal OCR) allows the user to define just which part of the document to analyze and extract data.  Extremely useful in repetitive processing of the same document type, ScannerVision Zonal OCR can quickly and accurate extract information which can determine how to process and file documents.

ScannerVision Barcode Engine
ScannerVision's barcode engine is the most comprehensive barcode engine available today. It is the fastest and most accurate barcode reader in the market, even on degraded images. The engine can read and write 1D linear, 2D DATAMATRIX, PDF417 and QR Code type barcodes, both color and black & white.

Once the sofware extracts the data from the barcode, it can be used to assist in the routing and filing of scanned documents. The ScannerVision barcode engine can makes light work of intensive document processing tasks with high speed and accurate barcode read/write for over 100 different barcode types and all their sub-types. 

ScannerVision FreeForm 
ScannerVision offers significant benefits when capturing and extracting data from forms.  Existing technologies, such as barcode detection and zonal optical character recognition, can significantly assist users when it comes to automatically extracting data from forms and filing documents in the correct location.  However there is one caveat; the user has to know exactly which type and version of document they are scanning.

With the ScannerVision FreeForm module option, this guesswork is a thing of the past.  The FreeForm recognition engine can automatically match the scanned document to any one of the form-types registered at the server.  For each different form-type a separate sub-workflow can be created, defining all of the parameters for zonal recognition and metadata extraction and ensuring the document reaches the correct destination.  Forms detection is based on a confidence level which can be set by the administrator and calibrated from within the server console.

ScannerVision can also detect multiple form types within the same document, and process and route each individual form accordingly.

ScannerVision ABC
ScannerVision ABC (Advanced Bitonal Compression) module is a 1-bit compression format and  a major breakthrough in document capture technology. This set of advanced compression algorithms out performs all industry standard compression types. With ScannerVision ABC, customers will be able to realize file sizes 4 to 5 times smaller than the files sizes generated by standard 1 bit compression types such as CCITT Group 4. ScannerVision ABC was specifically designed to allow efficient network transmission of scanned manuals, books, check images and other document types.

This superior compression allows the resulting images to be efficiently transmitted, viewed and manipulated over local area networks and the Internet.  ScannerVision ABC helps companies optimize their scanned documents tosave transmission/bandwidth usage and server space, which in turn, results in savings of time and money.
